This report characterizes the FLI ProLine 4240 Cooled Monochrome CCD Camera at Phillips Academy Observatory (MPC I12). The analysis covers bias level stability across temperature, readout noise derived from differenced bias pairs, and gain determined from the photon transfer curve. All measurements were taken with the luminance filter at 1×1 binning and 2 MHz readout. The central 512×512 pixel ROI was used throughout to avoid edge effects.
I executed the full observational methodology and uncertainty propagation and doccumented my findings in LaTeX, achieveing a near-perfect evaluatoin for technical precision. Bias levels show a significant non-stochastic drift across frames at −35°C and substantially higher instability at room temperature. Readout noise was determined from 14 differenced bias pairs and cross-checked against manufacturer specifications. Gain was measured from six flat-frame pairs at exposure times spanning 5–20 seconds, with non-linearity at both tails discussed. The report includes full uncertainty propagation for both derived quantities.
